Sometimes I think life should come with a warning sign that says “Uneven Lanes”. Life can be rough or bumpy. It can be irregular and have potholes from time to time. Life is rarely level. A common phrase from the mouths of most teenagers is: “It’s not fair,” which could also be translated “Uneven Lanes.” Life isn’t always what we would term fair, and we all encounter uneven lanes from time to time.
I would venture to say that all of us have uneven lanes in our regular course of life. The greatest uneven lane is saying one thing and doing another. We can be quick to judge others for this, but by judging others for their uneven lanes, we only reflect our own
Isaiah 40:4 (ESV) says, “Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain.” John the Baptist quotes this scripture as he is preparing the way for Jesus and calling people to repentance.
Let’s work on the uneven lanes in our own lives as we prepare and look forward to Christ’s return. Are Your Lanes Even?
